WHY DID YOU START COACHING WITH ROSS?

I started a plan with Ross a while ago now, I think it was September 2023. I wanted to have a structured plan that I would be accountable to, that would aim to actually help me improve my fitness. I felt like I was just running for no reason other than keeping fit, and I knew having a coach would change things up, so I reached out to Ross, knowing his background and knowledge were great and trustworthy.

WHAT GOALS DID YOU HAVE WHEN YOU JOINED? DID YOU ACHIEVE THEM?

So I wanted to run more each week and build up my fitness, and complete Manchester Marathon, which I had to defer by a year due to having a hernia. Post-op, Ross was really helpful and supportive, and made sure my plan was safe and appropriate to get me back up on my feet. From my operation in September ‘24, I managed a decent training block that helped me complete Manchester Marathon in March 2025.

After my op, I was worried if I was actually going to be able to get back into running, but I can safely say everything about my coaching was tailored to recovery and not running before I could walk. It was so adaptable and realistic. I really, really wanted to get a sub-4, and I successfully ran a 3:52 marathon. I was over the moon!

WHAT DID YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT THE COACHING EXPERIENCE?

I have really enjoyed the coaching from Ross. He gives great, honest advice via message, voice note, or calls. He gave me the boosts when I needed them and taught me not to be too hard on myself. He was very thorough in the plans, not overtraining and making sure I recovered adequately. It’s a totally well-rounded approach and very much designed around your individual needs and requirements.

I liked that it was very relaxed and I never felt any pressure from Ross to go out and train if I wasn’t feeling up to it, for example, illness, etc. He takes your whole general wellbeing into consideration throughout your plan.

WHAT MADE YOU STAY/ KEEP WORKING WITH ROSS?

I’ve stayed coaching with Ross because I’ve found that being accountable and having to check in with him makes me train and not skip sessions, reps, or be lazy. It’s really motivated me over the last few years, and going forward, I couldn’t train without a coaching plan.

IF YOU WERE TO RECOMMEND ROSS TO SOMEONE, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY?

I’d recommend Ross to anyone, from beginner to elite. He has years of experience and doesn’t base your training off the latest fads. He’s really friendly and so easy to talk to. The fact he helps you get results is proof in the pudding to recommend him! I PB’d by 8 minutes, which was a huge achievement for me. I now can’t wait to see what the future holds and what I can achieve next.

I feel fitter and stronger than ever, and crossing that line and getting the time I wanted was really emotional. I was so proud of myself and couldn’t wait to see my son and show him my medal. I couldn’t have done it without Ross’s help and support.
